Happy Fall & Merry Xmas 2008

Gary J. Wolff (in Tokyo, Japan)
Welcome to MY Space.....
not to be confused with that OTHER one !
It's my take on Japan, Texas, and the world.
Enjoy !!
A special memorial webpage has now been
prepared to honor our departed friend,
Ted Evan Stewart
March 22, 1957 - January 9, 2008
This Christmas card was sent to me from Space.
I received this from Japan's high-speed internet communication
satellite "KIZUNA," which is in orbit 36,000 km above Earth.
A special Tokyo friend of mine applied to JAXA (Japanese space agency)
for me to receive this Season's Greeting from space.
"Celebrate Christmas"
by Yoshimizu Koike
(an original production by one of my university students)
This
is really, really neat. Watch the actual 24-hour flow of air traffic around the
globe.....as day turns into night and then back into day.
Look at how lonely it must be flying the south Pacific between Argentina/Chile at the southernmost tip of South America over to Australia. And just a couple of aircraft between Australia to South Africa! Lonely days and lonely nights, all over water. A larger and much easier-to-see animation can be found HERE.

Then move through space towards the Earth

After that, begin to move from the actual size of a leaf
into a microscopic world that reveals leaf cell walls,
the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and finally,
into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons.
