Sunset behind Mt. Fuji, Japan's tallest peak
Mon., Feb. 11, 2008
5:11 - 5:16 pm
(I am told this spectacle, known as "Diamond Fuji,"
occurs between Oct. & Feb. each year.
When the suns sets into or rises out of the cone of the volcano,
the crown appears to emit rays, resembling a shimmering jewel.)
Some more stunning examples of "Diamond Fuji" are here and here.
This Google map shows the best spots to view Diamond Fuji from the Lake Yamanakako area.
Leaf mold? Yummy so much!

Just when I thought I'd seen everything,
then there was this pig grazing along the banks of the Edo River in Tokyo.

I miss you, buddy. But I know you are now at peace with
up there on the playground in the sky.
good is life if you cannot share
fun would there be if no one could see
let us share our gladness and sorrow,
him of your care and woes,
Listen to every word he may say,
your ears to hear his trouble,
him of the time you cried all night
it be, he has seen those days
shows us to our friends with care,
the Golden Rule be your guideline

Then move through space towards the Earth
in successive orders of magnitude until you reach
a tall oak tree just outside the buildings of the
National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida.
After that, begin to move from the actual size of a leaf
into a microscopic world that reveals leaf cell walls,
the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and finally,
into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons.
